Marian Anderson on Peace

Old world map 1689

Marian Anderson (1897-1993) was one of the most celebration African-American singers of the twentieth Century and worked for many years as a delegate to the United Nations Human Rights Committee.

I love this quote by her:    No matter how big a nation is, it is no stronger that its weakest people, and as long as you keep a person down, some part of you has to be down there to hold him down, so it means you cannot soar as you might otherwise.  Take a look at the old world map. What has really changed since its publication in 1689? We war, we struggle, we make peace, we war and struggle again. Is this really the inevitable cycle of life or is there a way to reverse the struggle permanently? I hope the latter is true.   Images public domain Please join us!
